Working together to bring things to life
We partner with local charities, community groups, venues and creatives to make joyful things happen!
Soul of the City is a Brighton & Hove community choir that believes singing is a great way to connect people.
We love working with people who feel fun, generous and full of spark. The kind of collaborators who make you think, Yes, you’re brilliant, I love what you do, how you think, how you like to gather people, let’s do something together.
For us, collaboration is about bringing awareness to local causes, making space for emerging artists, and co-creating moments that feel joyful and human. A choir can bring people together in ways you don’t always expect, and we’ve seen how these shared experiences help build the kind of community so many people are looking for.

Supporting local causes
Each term we partner with a Brighton & Hove charity, giving them a platform at our gig and shining a light on their work.
Our shows are big and warm, and raising awareness matters as much as raising money. Many choir members haven’t heard about the chosen charities until we partner with them. We’ve had times where our singers have ended up volunteering with charities because they love their work.
We love how symbiotic it is: helping brilliant organisations be seen, supported, and connected to the people who need them.
Past partners include Grow, Amaze, Friends, Together Co, Choir With No Name, Real Junk Food Project, Brighton & Hove Food Partnership, The Building Futures Project, Macmillan Cancer Support, Rockinghorse and many more.

What collaboration looks like
Our creative partnerships take us all over the place: singing at the Camden Roundhouse with Voices Now, joining Reef and Nordic Giants at Concorde 2, performing with Human Pyramids at The Great Escape singing alongside Mara Simpson at the Komedia, or getting involved in filming and music projects at the Brighton Hippodrome. These moments are fun, a bit wild, and full of that feeling of Wow, I can’t believe we get to do this.
We also love supporting artists who are just finding their feet. At our gigs we offer support slots to local musicians (sometimes even people from within the choir) giving them a proper stage, a friendly audience, and that step that can be so helpful to just get ‘out there’. Brighton is full of talent, and it’s nice to help someone be seen!
